QUILT RAFFLE FUNDRAISER
The Scrappy Women Quilters – Kitsie Claxton, Eileen Fair, Linda, Matzen, Wendy Mitchell and Patty Weidler – have crafted a beautiful log cabin lap quilt to benefit The Center for Wisdom’s Women. The group designed and handcrafted the top which was then quilted by Betsy Dorr at Quiltessentials. They have named it “Hearth Spring” in honor of the Center’s intention to create a home and recovery community for women survivors of trauma called Sophia’s House. The Scrappy Women Quilters have done this in the past for other non-profits. What a wonderful gift to the Center this year.
Raffle tickets are $2 each, 3 for $5 and 7 for $10. The quilt will be displayed and tickets for sale at the Vault on Lisbon St. during Art Walks in Lewiston July 29, August 26 and September 30, at the Farmer’s Market later in the summer and fall and at other upcoming community events. Tickets are also available at the Center and from board members. The drawing will take place at the Center’s annual fall event “Wise and Strong Women Speak” in October.
OTHER FUNDRAISING PROJECTS & EVENTS
We now sell handmade body care products from Thistle Farms in Nashville, TN. Income from the sales will go toward helping us start our own social enterprise! Click HERE for more information.
Our ongoing fundraising effort is the sale of Wisdom Boxes. These are small embellished boxes that each contain a word of wisdom – a quote, a blessing or a short poem. A new, similar project is making Gratitude Beads”. They are unique, hand made strings of beads that come in a small pouch with a quote about gratitude and directions for use.
We host two evening events each year called “Wise and Strong Women Speak” which bring a wider group together in our building, and we have begun hosting targeted Open House gatherings for invited groups. We find that once we get people in the door, they often become donors.
If you live in the Lewiston/Auburn area, ask us for our Clynk stickers and you can take your redeemable bottles and cans to Hannaford and deposit them into our account! You help the environment and us!
We are building a Facebook presence. Please “Like” our page and share it! We send an e-newlsetter every other month and a larger print newsletter twice a year. Join our growing mailing lists.
